'Gandhi Chaura' Beniabagh Park, Varanasi is the place where the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were kept for people to pay their tribute before immersing in the Ganga river. The ashes were brought to Varanasi on February 12, 1948 and taken to Harishchandra Ghat. Raja Gopalachari laid the foundation stone of memorial on December 1, 1948. The memorial today lies neglected.
